Introducing Boom Cards

We are really excited to be introducing Boom Cards to our range of products.  Like all of our products, our Boom Cards resources have been used in the real world with our clients.  We’ve had excellent results in using these online, interactive products especially as we have modified our practice to be 100% online in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

With more Boom Cards on the way, we already have products developed for:

  • Expressive Verbs
  • Receptive Verbs
  • Building Vocabulary
  • Minimal Pairs
  • Phonemic Awareness
  • Prepositions
  • Rhyming

ABOUT SPEECH CONCEPTS

Speech Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, SLP, Speech Pathologist – we call ourselves by many names. Regardless of the title we use, the one constant is that we all want the best outcomes for our clients and families. This presents two challenges. Finding the right resource for each client can be difficult but there is never enough time to create your own resources in a jam-packed day.

Just like you, I am a busy speech pathologist always on the look out for fun and innovative resources to maximise the outcomes from my sessions. Finding resources which are relevant, cost-effective, and engaging can take as long as creating one from scratch. So, over the years I found that I was making more and more resources myself. I started Speech Concepts as a way to share the resources I was developing. The range of practical resources have all been tested in the real world, and could be just the thing you have been looking for.

Check out our fun speech therapy resources for your clinic, and don’t forget to tell us if there is something you would like us to develop.

How to pick a great toy?

When it's your turn, construct the headline or a story to earn points! i love to use this game to target sentence construction. It's open-ended but with some structure so that all can succeed. If you want a harder challenge I add in conjunctions.

Pig the Fibber is a great read. All the pig books have lots of humour. this one explores with children about what might happen when we tell lies. The rhyming text and great illustrations keep children engaged This story can be used to target simple predicting - what might happen next?) and inferencing . there are lots of great vocabulary (tier 2) to explore as well as many language concepts.

Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas is a fun and cheeky rhyming book. I love the vocabulary and rhyme in this book; it will surely engage everyone. This is a great book to target vocabulary - body parts, talking about ⁣
differences and similarities and making inferences. If working on articulation - there are a range bilabial words to target.
